Don’t wait – Celebrate Australia’s rich history by adding a Wedge-Tailed Eagle to your collection today.

First introduced in 2014 by the Perth Mint, the Silver Wedge-Tailed Eagle series quickly gained recognition as Australia’s answer to the iconic American Silver Eagle. Each coin is struck from 1 Troy oz. of .9999 fine silver and backed by the Australian government with a face value of $1 AUD.

The series debuted with a mintage of only 10,000 coins, and the coin being offered is strike number 118, while the vintage is sparking strong international demand. Today, both bullion and collectible proof versions, including high-relief strikes, continue to attract investors and collectors worldwide.

Like other Perth Mint legal tender coins, the obverse of the Silver Wedge-Tailed Eagle displays the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, this portrait is celebrated for its honesty and detail, depicting the Queen with dignity and realism. Later releases have featured updated effigies that reflect the passage of time while preserving the coin’s heritage. These portraits connect each release to the broader history of Commonwealth coinage.

The reverse design of the Wedge-Tailed Eagle is the work of John Mercanti, 12th Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint and one of the most prolific coin designers in history. His artistry captures the majesty and power of Australia’s largest bird of prey. Each year, Mercanti’s reverse has featured a new depiction of the eagle, from landing on a branch to soaring in flight.

These annually changing designs keep the series dynamic and highly collectible, making the Silver Wedge-Tailed Eagle a standout in modern world coinage.
