About the 2006 20th Anniversary Set

The 2006 20th Anniversary American Silver Eagle Set is one of the most celebrated milestone releases in the series' history. The U.S. Mint issued three distinct versions of the ASE to mark two decades of production: the standard burnished bullion strike from West Point (W), the standard proof from Philadelphia (P), and the first-ever Reverse Proof American Silver Eagle — a groundbreaking finish that inverted the traditional proof appearance with frosted fields and mirrored devices. The Reverse Proof alone has become one of the most sought-after coins in the entire ASE series.

About the American Silver Eagle

The American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States, first minted in 1986. Made with 1 troy ounce of 99.9% pure silver with a $1 denomination backed by the U.S. government, it is the most popular silver bullion coin in the world. The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman's iconic Walking Liberty design, and the reverse features John Mercanti's heraldic eagle — the original Type 1 design used from 1986 through 2021.

NGC Certified Silver Eagles

NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company) is a pillar in coin grading and authentication. PF70 Ultra Cameo is the highest possible grade for a proof coin, indicating a flawless strike with maximum cameo contrast between frosted devices and mirror-like fields. MS70 is the highest grade for a business or bullion strike coin.

Grading Scale

The Sheldon Scale ranges from 1 (poorest) to 70 (perfect). Coins graded at 70 — whether MS70 or PF70 — are flawless with no blemishes visible under 5x magnification.
